I touched on the topic of recycling in yesterday’s mailbag post. At some point, I’ll get a whole post on the topic, but for now, here’s a few plays I liked from the recent men’s matches where teams are deliberately creating recycle situations and transitioning out of them.
Recycle to Pipe
Russell missed the sideline on the transition swing, but this is basically what you want this play to look like. I like the recycle on the long-distance bumpset, because spiking efficiency is down anyway.
Inside-Out
Here’s a bit of a funky scenario where Russell is coming off a coverage back toward zone 4, so he’s not in a great position to terminate. Okay great, reset off the block and then reverse the ball over to the right side.
