This week is Beach Week at SmarterVolley. Typically I dedicate the first three weeks of content to indoor volleyball, with the fourth week focusing on beach. If you’re not interested in beach, then feel free to skip this one. (But don’t, because the plays are sweet!)
Since this week’s Monday breakdown focused on Transition, so will this 5-Play Friday.
If you’re like me, you might want to share these clips with players. I love having a library of clips and examples to show players something I’m trying to teach them. I was never a World Champion as a player, so I’d rather show them how the best do it and then my own demos can be complimentary and specific to the player I’m coaching.
Setting With Control
One of the hardest plays to make is to run forward in Transition and then stop yourself to bumpset with control. Many players either push the set too tight or overcompensate and punch the set back at their partner too far off the net. Really nice smooth control here.
