SmarterVolley Live: Offensive Concepts
Sort of like this newsletter, but without the ability to scroll to another page.
Announcement: I’m running a live event in Wilmington, DE on Dec 17 and 18. The topic is SmarterVolley Offensive Concepts.
I’ve run this curriculum with a couple of programs in a private event setting. We’ve seen some really nice changes just in a weekend setting.
I subtitle this session, “From setting/hitting the ball to running an offense,” because some of the biggest value is in helping players understand how their individual skill execution fits together into a bigger picture of team effectiveness.
This is the first time I’m running this session in a public forum and I’m excited to present it to a bigger audience; I think we’ll get some good Q&A. The seminar is hosted by Brandywine Volleyball Club (aka: my parent’s club) but is open to general registration. We’ll have a mix of classroom and on-court sessions which help teach these concepts. In particular:
In-System, Semi-System, and Out-of-System concepts.
Pull/Push “Gap Attack” In-System concepts for middle attacking.
Coordinating pin hitter tempos to compliment your middles.
Maximizing situational setter attacking.
Dealing with the 3 most common block/defense adjustments.
High ball hitting concepts.
Out-of-System: making better zeroes.
Coverage systems
Getting into various offensive concepts from Transition: what’s available and what’s not.
We’ll look at all this stuff in classroom settings, but, more importantly, see what it looks like when we train it on the court.
The session will run 10:30 - 5:30 on Saturday, Dec 17 and 9:00 - 4:00 on Sunday, Dec 18. We start late on Saturday so you can save a hotel night if you’re driving in from out of the area. The cost is $190 per coach and $140 for each additional coach from the same program. Space is limited to between 30 and 40 coaches so we keep things high-quality and there’s lots of chances for interaction.

Was this filmed to watch by chance? I didn't sign up for the substack til 2023 and was interested in the topic :).
