Final Reminder: We have a small-group workshop tonight (Thursday, Oct 27) at 9pm Eastern. The topic is Blocking Lessons From The 2022 Men’s World Championship. There will be application to all levels of volleyball, but I’m going to take plenty of space to touch on some higher-level concepts, so it won’t be aimed at beginner blockers. It’s open to all premium subscribers, so now’s a great time to subscribe! The link will get sent out tonight at 8pm Eastern.
Earlier this week I published a recap of SmarterVolley Beach Week posts, focusing on the Triangle framework, which forms the analytical backbone of this site.
In this posts, I’ll round up some of the other Beach Week posts, which often have either a specific technical focus, or a drill that compliments Monday’s analytical post.

My favorite Beach Week post was the Q&A with Betsi Flint. We talked serving and passing, but especially dove into the serving end. A lot of good back and forth in this one. Worth checking out if you haven’t yet!
I’m looking forward to continuing the dialogue for another year. Drop me a comment and let me know what you want to see more of.
A typical novel is about 100,000 words. I’ve published in the ballpark of 150,000 words this first year on SmarterVolley, with about 50% dedicated to indoor, 25% dedicated to beach, and 25% general coaching philosophy that could apply to either surface. In addition, I try to use video clips, gifs, graphics, and pictures of LL Cool J drive home the points of the articles.
Most of this has been freely available, but I want to provide value for subscribers as well. We’ve had a bunch of great small-group sessions where some coaches from the highest levels are talking shop and answering questions live for SmarterVolley subscribers. If you haven’t gone premium yet, I think you’ll get even more value in Year 2 than Year 1, and it will help me keep this project going another year. Thank you.
